Welcome to Buckthorn Farms. We are a family owned and operated breeder of Dressage and Eventing Prospects. We chose our broodmares for their build, action and temperament. Our mares represent many breeds, but the single minded goal of a versatile, reliable equine partner.
Why Buckthorn? The Ancient Celts believed that if a person tasted of the Buckthorn berry, the ability to have telepathic communication with horses would be given to them. We strive to reach a depth of communication with all our animals that would hold true to this belief. This is our constant goal.
Our horses are handled daily, receive the best care possible and generally considered our equine children. All the animals at our farm are treated with the utmost care and respect from our horses, beef cattle, dogs and barn cats to the variety of wildlife that roam our farm. For the Hay of It Benefit Show rain date July 11th! Benefitting Equestrian Zone.
Valley View Tropical Heatwave Show-Gusty was highscore horse of the day and earned her 70% medal. Chips made his return after eye surgery and earned his 60% medal.
Our Fabulous Gusty (aka One Dun Blonde) is a Top 5 ACAAP Award Winner in Dressage in the ApHC for 2008 and also earned her COA in Dressage in 2008!

Our first award! Gusty's 60% medal. Followed by Gus and Flame's 70% medal and a Gusty's Reserve Championship Amatuer in Intro Level! AND I was named 2009 ADS Dressage Princess! What is that you may ask? More to come!
