Grand Gentlemen At Buckthorn, these are our baby sitters, herd masters and generally good trail riding buddies. Patriot Persuader 1990 Thoroughbred Gelding My first horse as a "grown up", Patriot has taught me an immense amount about being a great partner in the saddle and about horse care. He is my "tall, dark and handsome". He is a beautiful mover, only held back by my novice abilities as a rider. He jumps beautifully and in general a sweet heart.
Sweet Mr. Khalim 1991 Thorougbred Gelding Calvin came to me rather by accident, but what a sweet heart he is. He had a long hard road before he arrived here, but now he is safe and happy here and this is where he will stay. He is a great hunt seat horse, with beautiful natural carriage and a wonderfully consistent speed in each gait. SOLD! Congratulations to Calvin's new "mom" Jennifer Rains! He is a LUCKY boy! Enjoy him!
Gusty welcomes Calvin to our happy home! Sleepy 2004 American Miniature Horse Gelding Everything happens for a reason. I wasn't able to attend a horse show one day after hauling to it because of some confusion, so I ended up going to a horse sale with my friends. We were walking through the pens and in a pen of about 20 large horses was this little guy being used as a football. When he came through the ring, I couldn't help it, he had to come home with me. Great... now what? He didn't even know how to lead! Well now he does. He is slowly learning to trust and realize that he isn't in danger. He is shedding of and starting to pick up weight so keep checking back for updates! He will be in riding and driving training this Winter. SOLD! Sleepy and Silver are now happily in Ohio with their new buddies!
On the left, our first day home! And on the right two months later, a little fatter and much less hairy! And below, fat and sassy in the fall!
