Welcome to Buckthorn Farms. We are a family owned and operated breeder of Dressage and Eventing Prospects. We chose our broodmares for their build, action and temperament. Our mares represent many breeds, but the single minded goal of a versatile, reliable equine partner.
Why Buckthorn? The Ancient Celts believed that if a person tasted of the Buckthorn berry, the ability to have telepathic communication with horses would be given to them. We strive to reach a depth of communication with all our animals that would hold true to this belief. This is our constant goal.
Our horses are handled daily, receive the best care possible and generally considered our equine children. All the animals at our farm are treated with the utmost care and respect from our horses, beef cattle, dogs and barn cats to the variety of wildlife that roam our farm. Gusty earned 60 and 70% medals and was Res Champion Amatuer Training Level
Chips (ZCC Cash Money) earned his 60% medal after returning from the loss of his eye.
